The Best Basics

Anyone who know me knows a white tee is my favorite piece of clothing. My style is so simple. I love to wear solid colors and basic pieces and spice it up with my shoes and other accessories. I have so many basic tee's its kind of embarrassing, lol. I just think its important to have a variety of basics. I've decided to share some of my fav basics that I have in my wardrobe: a slouchy white v-neck, a long sleeve white tee, a fitted white henley, an off the shoulder white tee, a slouchy gray tee, and a black oversized tee. I definitely wear my basic white tops the most, but sometimes I like to switch it up with gray or black. My newest favorite basic that I just recently added to my collection is a white henley. It's super comfortable and looks really good on. My ultimate favorite basic tee that I own is my black T by Alexander Wang t-shirt. It's actually a men's t-shirt but I wanted an oversized look so its perfect. Links to these must have basics are listed below.

Gotta Have It: Fall Outerwear

It's feeling more like fall everyday which means its time to break out the fall coats. In my opinion, the best part about fall fashion is the outerwear. Fall outerwear isn't like the bulky, not so stylish winter outerwear; fall jackets are super trendy and fun. Below are some fall outerwear must-haves:

Day to Night

Living in New York always calls for a quick outfit change. Whether you're going for drinks or having dinner with friends after work, its always such a hassle to go back to your apartment just for an outfit change; especially when you work downtown and live uptown- no one has time for that. Even for those who don't live in new york, day to night looks always come in handy for those who are super busy and just don't have the time to go home and switch looks. Personally, I think the easiest way to bring your look from day to night is a shoe change. Changing from sneakers or flats to heels always spices up your outfit. You could be wearing a white tee with jeans and sneakers and switching to heels will make all the difference. Another easy way to switch your outfit from day to night is to switch your bottoms from pants to a skirt. Here are a few day to night outfit ideas for you to try:

Chill Out

It's so hard when it comes to picking out an outfit for cozy and comfort. Trust me, I know. I would dress in sweats every single day if I didn't go to a fashion school where its looked down upon if you're not dressed for the runway. Lol. I just love being comfortable. Recently, I came up with a bunch of outfits for myself that are still trendy and fashionable yet still super comfy. I've decided to share them with you because I know how hard it is when you want to dress cozy yet still be cute.

Denim Jacket
Hoodie
Leather Jacket
Jogger sweatpants
Sweatshirt
Nike Roshe
Adidas Stan Smith's
Puma x Rihanna "Creepers"

Date Night Looks

It's officially cuffin' season which means going on dates and the like. Having a hard time picking out the perfect date night outfit? I get it. It can be hard picking out the perfect outfit when trying to impress that new special someone or even that old special someone. I've created a few outfits for you to use as inspiration when getting ready for your next date. I personally think picking out an outfit for a date to the movies is the hardest because you want to be comfy yet still look super cute for your date. I always go for leggings and either a t-shirt or sweatshirt or both because layering is fun! And then I throw on a pair of sneakers. This makes for a cute yet still comfy look. The next look I've created is so fun and edgy; A fun vintage t-shirt paired with a chic leather skirt and a pair of booties. (Tip: wear something that can work as a conversation starter a.k.a this Harley Davidson t-shirt; or anything that may grab your dates attention because we all know dates can get awkward. Haha!) I really love this next look; a gray turtleneck sweater vest with coordinating gray jeans and brown booties. I love the gray and brown color scheme because its not two colors you would normally pair together. And this sweater vest is such a great piece, its so out of the ordinary. This outfit is a great look for a dinner date! This last look is perfect for going out on the town with your date. An all black look with a pop of color in your shoes is always a good idea. Enjoy!

Trending: Suede

Suede is a super big trend right now; so big that people were wearing suede skirts and such even in the summer. Now that fall is here suede is an even bigger trend being used in any garment you can think of like dresses, skirts, jackets, purses, etc. Here are a bunch of suede items on the market right now:
These items are available on Topshop.comZara.com, and HM.com.

H&M: For the Home

Fashion isn't just clothes and shoes. Your home needs fashion too! I love home fashions more than I love apparel fashion, to be honest. I'm obsessed with interior decorating; I love Ikea, Hobby Lobby, CB2, Pier 1 Imports, etc. I basically like any store that has home decor. Places like Target, Walmart, and Marshalls have great home decor finds. About a year ago I discovered that H&M has a home fashions line and I have been obsessed ever since. They have such great, trendy items that are good quality and still at a low H&M price. H&M offers their home decor line online and in select stores. Here are some of my current favorites from the H&M home fashion section:

Rihanna x Puma "Creepers"

Rihanna is my spirit animal. She is my idol. I could write this whole post about how much I am obsessed with Rih but I'll get to the point. So as we all know or should know Rihanna is a brand ambassador for Puma and recently did a collaboration with them. Rihanna designed the "creeper" sneaker. Of course I had to get a pair because Rihanna designed them and Rihanna does no wrong. So the sneaker is basically a classic puma sneaker with a platform sole. The color ways and funky sole is what really makes the shoe. The shoe comes in black and tan and new color ways will be popping up soon. I purchased the tan pair as I have been wanting all tan sneakers and I felt like this was the perfect pair. They are so dope! I'm obsessed with them. They are definitely a statement piece to any outfit.

In My Dreams

I mean, a girl can dream right? We all have that list of things that we only dream of having. I like to think of my list as more of a materialistic bucket list a.k.a things I plan to buy before I die. Of course, this list varies every other month but right now this is what I'm craving. My absolute dream bag is the Givenchy Nightingale! I just love it. My second bag of choice would be the Saint Laurent Sac De Jour. Then of course everyone wants a Chanel purse; I want the Chanel boy bag in a funky color like the yellow I have shown. Another fun bag is the Yves Saint Laurent fur cross body bag; this purse is definitely not your everyday purse but I'm obsessed with it, its so fun and edgy. Lastly, I've been wanting a bright red purse to work as my pop of color in a monochromatic outfit and the Proenza Schouler and Balenciaga purses are perfect for that. I think everyone should start off with a classic black purse and then from there start collecting purses of different colors. Different color purses are so fun and can really set off your outfit. Your purse is such an important accessory! On to the shoes: I'm so obsessed with sneakers right now and the pair I crave the most is the Valentino Rockstud sneakers. They are just perfect. Another pair of sneakers I want is Saint Laurent Signature Court Classic hi-tops in black. They are such a simple black sneaker but they add a bit of chic to your outfit and will obviously go with anything. And of course, as every other girl in the world, I want a classic pair of Christian Louboutins. So the only way to get everything we dream about is to claim it! Work hard and remember your hard work will pay off...with designer things.

*Wears Band Tee's but Doesn't Listen to Band*

Okay so I'm that girl that wears band t-shirt's but doesn't listen to the band. But I'm obsessed with them. They're so fun. You can pair a band tee or an old vintage t-shirt with literally anything to make your outfit a bit more edgy. They're such an easy way to make your simple outfit not so simple. Honestly the options are endless when it comes to band tee's. You can pair them with sneakers  or heels, skirts or jeans...literally anything. Vintage shops usually have the best band tee's but can be a bit on the pricier side. Thrift shops usually always have fun band tee's. I like to just google whatever t-shirt it is I'm looking for and I usually get lucky finding them. A great website for band tee's is shirts.com- they have a huge variety. Here's a few ways I like to style my band tee's:

Yeezy Season 2 Review

First and foremost, what does everyone think of the Yeezy season 2 collection? I like the collection but I think its extremely similar to lasts season collection. Both are dope collections. The aesthetics and mood of the two collections are almost identical. Season 2 (just like season 1) is filled with everyday pieces such as hoodies, crew necks, leggings, bodysuits, etc- which is cool. I like that the collection(s) are everyday, wearable, trendy pieces. Although, I believe Kanye is way more creative than what he brought to the runway. Even the set-up and show itself was exactly like season 1's show; like was this a last minute thing or...? Kanye is so much more creative than what he put out this season. It seems like he literally revamped the season 1 collection using a new color scheme.Don't get me wrong- the collection is super dope and I def have my eye on a few pieces but I know Kanye could have done better. Here are a few of my favorite looks:

Fashion Week Favs- SS16

With Fashion Week at its end I figured its only right I review some of my favs! So DKNY was definitely my favorite collection this season. I would totally wear the whole collection. Its so me. I love how simplistic it is. The whole collection is based around white, gray, navy, black, and the like. DKNY brought back their iconic pinstripes and completely revamped them. All the pieces are very modern and casual-chic. Im so obsessed with the collection and can't wait until it hits the sales floor. Here are a few of my favorite looks:

Another collection that I just thought was beautiful was the Marchesa collection. But then again when isn't Marchesa amazing? This collection had my mouth watering, honestly. The gowns are to die for! I absolutely loved the color scheme and the choice of lace, sheer, and tulle only made the collection 10x better as it gave it such an elegant feel. The black gowns had such intricate detail making it much more than just a black gown. The pastels are so soft and elegant making the dresses flow so gracefully. I wish I had a reason and wallet big enough to buy one of these dresses. Here are a few of my favs:

Riccardo Tisci x Nike

I'm a little late with this post but better late than never, right? The third and final Riccardo Tisci x Nike collab was recently released. Out of the three collab's Riccardo Tisci has recently done with Nike this one was my favorite which is why I HAD to get them. All three RTxNike collections were great but this one stood out to me. This collection was definitely my top fav out of the three collections because of the basic colors. The four colors in this sneaker sums up my whole wardrobe. What do you think about the Riccardo Tisci x Nike collaborations?

Alexander Wang x H&M

With the release of the Alexander Wang x H&M collection just a few days away I thought I'd see how everyone feels about the collaboration. Alexander Wang is definitely one of my favorite designers but this collection didn't wow me. Personally, I'm not a big fan of this collection; don't get me wrong, it's a great collection..I don't not like it. But I'm not crazy about it- maybe my expectations were too high. There isn't really anything in the collection that I am lusting over and will wait in line to get.  What do you guys think about this collection? Below are a few of my top picks from the collection

Comparing/Contrasting Runway Shows

There's the good fashion shows and then there's the not so good fashion shows. The clothes in the fashion show may be great pieces but how you display them is the real catch. An example of a good fashion show is Moschino S/S 15 show. The clothes are styled on the models in a way that displays each item and isn't chaotic. Also, the scene is very minimalistic with the white walls and bright lights making it easy to view each outfit. The Barbie theme to this collection was a plus to the show. The models perfectly resembled real life barbies and "Barbie Girl" was the runway music. This made the show a fun experience. An example of a bad fashion show is Red Valentino S/S 15 show. This show was not presented well as the backdrop clashes with the garments. The obnoxious black and white polka dots does nothing but add chaos to this show. This backdrop hurts the eye as it makes it hard to focus and view the outfits being presented.

Wardrobe Essentials

Style varies from person to person but essentials remain the same...for the most part. Everyone's style is different which leaves everyone with different wardrobe essentials BUT I believe there are a few staple items that no one can live without. Below is a post of a few essentials that I believe everyone should have in their closet. For starters, everyone should own a basic t-shirt in white, gray, and black; I even go as far as having these basic t-shirts in a long sleeve style as well as in sweaters. Black jeans and boyfriend jeans are always a must-have! Boyfriend jeans are hot right now but once they're not, switch out your boyfriend jeans with the current style jean that is trending. Leather jackets are a very important piece to everyones wardrobe- they can spice up any outfit! And of course, you can't forget the famous LBD. The little black dress is always in style...definitely something every closet should have. With these essentials your wardrobe is off to a good start allowing you to mix-and-match and create tons of simplistic-chic outfits.

Trending: Camel Coats

Camel has made a big come back! Camel has always been a good go-to color but this color has recently become more popular than ever. We've recently seen this color all over the runways for the upcoming Spring/Summer season as well as on the street scene. The color is now trending for the current fall season. The neutral camel color has been very popular in peacoat's. Peacoat's are a staple to your Fall wardrobe; they are definitely a must have. Not only must you have a peacoat but a peacoat in this camel color is something you should invest in. Camel is such a versatile color and perfect for Fall. You can pair your camel peacoat with very soft colors such as light denim, white, and light beige colors; or you could go complete opposite of soft colors and pair your camel peacoat with warm colors such as black, gray, and maroon. Below are a few pictures of this trend:

PFW Faves

Balenciaga definitely made it in to my top 3 from PFW. I am so obsessed with all of the looks. The monochrome colors were the first thing to make me fall in love with this collection. All the pieces were very simple-sporty-chic (try and say that three times fast haha). Kudos, Balenciaga, kudos.

Riccardo Tisci really out did himself this year. I am drooling over this whole collection! This collection seems to reinvent clothing of the medieval times by giving it an edgy feel. Dark colors aren't everyones favorite color for Spring (unless your a New Yorker or like me and your favorite color is black) but Givenchy can pull it off. From the lace to the leather, the studs to the thigh highs; Givenchy has never looked so good!

Spring/Summer '15 Color Trends

50 Shades of Beige

Beige seems to be the go-to color this coming spring/summer '15. Different shades of the natural beige color has been up and down the runways this month. This a very versatile color as you can pair it with white, black, other neutral colors, or even a fun pop of color.

Pastels? For Spring? Groundbreaking.

Pastels are always a staple in Spring/Summer collections. Pastels are that go-to color scheme that everyone wants in the Spring time for your Easter dress, Sunday brunch, walks in the park, and other Spring activities. Pastels are a "happy color"- they set the mood for Spring as everyone is happy the winter weather is over. Pastels are great for Spring as we give the dark colors a rest and brighten up our wardrobe.
